Abstract
Mitochondria are dynamic organelles that provide cells with energy and metabolites needed for survival and growth even during dramatic changes in diet, stress and development. The dysregulation of mitochondria is associated with numerous diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, and mitochondrial syndromes. Our lab is focused on identifying novel molecular mechanisms within mitochondria that allow cells to adapt to external stresses and changes in nutrient availability. Ultimately, we are interested in uncovering the physiological relevance for dysregulation of these pathways in the context of human diseases.
